5.0 outside 5 stars Slam dunk over pricey Electroline FT08300, July 28, 2010
This review is from: 8-Port Bi-Directional Cable television Splitter Signal Booster/Amplifier with Active Return Zero Signal Loss and VoIP Telephone Bypass Feature
For many years I was contemplating getting a dynamic return amplifier. We have cable modem issues now and then, but a really good TV picture because of previous amp I purchased. I just read where the Electroline is the better available, but after investigating the $120 price tag I had produced to believe twice. If you choose to of other products which has an Active Return label about them, but I need to to make sure I managed to get a powerful one, and this it worked as you expected. Taking full a look at Amazon's return policy, I made a decision to buying both and compare them.
Both amplifiers are solidly built. The Electroline is large in comparison to the other amp I've
4 PORT Cable / HDTV / DIGITAL AMPLIFIER INTERNET MODEM SIGNAL BOOSTER INTERNET AMP, nevertheless looked very solid with a nice grey matte finish. The PCT VC-9U is slightly smaller employing a glossy white finish. This has 9 output ports, and I get into those who work in one minute. For mounting, The PCT comes with a neat advantage that a Electroline wouldn't, could be the capability to mount it vertically or horizontally. The PCT has 2 sets of mounting brackets (I'm able to try post a photograph later), which caused it to be easier should mount the amp with the cieling of my garage, with 2 screws throughout the bottom with the joist.
I installed the Electroline first and connected it down to my cable plant. Everything worked all right. My picture was every bit as good as before, acquire my cable modem synced up faster and was quicker, or I had been just planning on be faster :). Their pulled the vitality to work out what would happen, I lost everything - cable modem and my TV picture. I left it installed for a few days, and during that time I have issues when the picture got white bars in the gift basket. After contacting the vendor, I'd been told i probably were built with a bad power supply and that also it had the end problem. Phoning should return the amp for replacement. How convenient.
When the electroline broke I put the PCT set up. All the difference here was i always stood a assortment of how to connect my cable modem. The PCT is sold with 9 ports, not 8. The 9th port rrs really a non-amplified port labeled MODEM. First I attempted the MODEM port. The cable modem actually worked a little bit a lot better than with my old amp, but this had connected with the return path. My old amp had a 7dB return path loss, in terms of modem port within the PCT provides a 5dB loss. The modem did apparently connect and not using a problem. Merely because advertise that everything will still work if ever the power fails, I pulled the plug within the amp - and my modem will not miss a beat. It stayed connected. Evidently when the power has gone out, who is going being surfing the web? It had become a nice test though, just in case Even i did a VOIP phone Just maybe could possibly have kept working. From the amp unplugged, the telly got very fuzzy and so the digital cable went altogether.
I failed to see any performance difference between the electroline and PCT. My only measure was simply exploring the picture and judging how it looked, and seeing the fact that cable modem reacted. No real difference between the amps that we could tell. As the Electroline was broken Even i did to come back it. The PCT at half the worth was working great, i really just thought to keeping it. I ultimately decided i would connect the cable modem one of a other ports possess amplified. An electric failure will knock out cable modem. No and. I don't have a relatively VOIP phone, turf would be am not concerned with the vitality thing. It picture was great, together with the cable modem worked fine anyway. I still have one or two ports obtainable for expansion.
SO my accept this - if you can spare the dollars, the reviews the electroline might be the technique to use. For the reason that PCT is definitely a new service nobody else has commented with it yet. But at half market price and so the same performance (while using the 9th port) the PCT VC-9U looks a slam dunk around the bang-for-the-buck side.
